According to analyses conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, fresh tomatoes today have 30 percent less vitamin C, 30 percent less thiamin, 19 percent less niacin, and 62 percent less calcium than they did in the 1960s. But the modern tomato does shame its 1960s counterpart in one area: It contains fourteen times as much sodium.

It can be even simpler than the method given in that article though, just melt some butter in a cast iron pan, throw the corn in and add some spices.

Another item for my to-do list, over at A Hamburger Today they have reverse-engineered a recipe for true McDonald’s style french fries. An impressive bit of science along with some social engineering for the win.

Wikihow has an “OpenCola” recipe that purportedly produces a soft drink similar to your average store bought cola. Sounds like fun.
